about

Over a year removed from the band's final show, Dude Japan's final recording, "Will You Meet Me There?" is here! These songs were written as a direct response to the approach that we took in putting together our full length album, "The Things That Matter", where instead of focusing on how the songs would work as a cohesive presentation, we simply just wrote songs. Not with a thought on where they would end up or how they would sound together. And in that regard I am glad that these songs represent the exit of the band as it displays the band just having a good time and writing songs because it is fun. Heck, isn't that what it should be about anyway? To my biased ears "Will You Meet Me There?" sounds like a marriage of the immediacy displayed on the earlier eps and the more refined aspects of our pop song writing that took place on the full length. It has the hallmarks of the signature fuzzy guitar tones and strong melodic leads and layered vocals that folks have come to expect from Dude Japan. Sonically, and lyrically "Will You Meet Me There?" offers proper closure to a band that wrote a bunch songs, and had tons of fun in a short period of time. For fans of Superchunk, Velocity Girl, Built to Spill, Tiger Trap, etc.

"Will You Meet Me There?" is limited to 200 cds with full color artwork. The cassette will be released at a later date. Each format has a different, exclusive cover tune included. The cd features Small's "Vega & Boston" while the cassette will have Sleepyhead's "What's Gonna Set You Free?"
