The sounds that Carol Rhyu creates with her project White Blush puts me into a state of borderline hypnosis every time I listen to it. And that is not to say it is boring or sleep inducing-in fact quite the opposite as every time I listen to it a new nuance is revealed to my ears. The balance of pop mastery and creating layers of intoxicating sounds is something that White Blush excels at. Mixing together the lush sounds of dream pop/shoegaze and synth driven New Wave with layers of electronic derived ambiance, White Blush, sounds like a meshing of such artists as I Break Horses, Stereolab, M83 and certainly a touch of The Cure and Depeche Mode. The warmth of ambient synth vibes, and slightly distorted bass under tones, propelling drum machine driven beats are all anchored by Rhyu's voice. This five song cassette will certainly leave you wanting more from White Blush. An edition of 100 pro duped/imprinted cassettes with full color j-cards.
