For the last couple of years I have been very interested in the beautiful racket that has been coming out of the "Windy City". A seemingly plethora of fuzzy bedroom pop, shoegaze and noise seems to be from Chicago rather often, and quite frankly there is just so much good stuff it is hard to name them all. For my money Lillerne Tapes, Solid Melts and Teen River have been touchstones of sorts for this type of music and one artist that has appeared on all of these labels (and more) is Katrina Stonehart. The borderline ambiguous project of Drew Gibson who is one of the brilliant minds behind Baby Birds Don't Drink Milk and two of the aforementioned labels, Solid Melts and Teen River. Katrina Stonehart's music is generally focused around very fuzzy guitar sounds that are sometimes a part of really melodic and catchy reverb soaked bedroom pop. And other times the sound of Katrina Stonehart is an excercise in daring, sprawling soundscapes. I am very happy to have both of the Katrina personas, so to speak coalesce on this cassette and be a part of the Singles Club series. Three untitled tracks of lo fi hypnotic fuzz that is somehow very catchy. I have admired what Drew has done with his various projects and I am very honored to have him lend some of Katrina Stonehart's music to be a part of this series Limited to 50 cassettes with hand stamped labels and full color, numbered j cards.
